Marti is Türkiye’s homegrown mobility platform, bringing accessible, tech-enabled transport options to urban riders. Marti began with e-scooters, expanded into ride-hailing, and today the Marti app offers a full stack of mobility services. In 2023, the company listed on the NYSE through a de-SPAC under the ticker MRT.
As our only Türkiye investment, we were drawn to the founders’ clarity of vision and operational rigor, and alignment with our internal thesis and expertise on the mobility space from prior investments such as Careem. CEO Oğuz Alper Öktem and COO/President Cankut Durgun have since grown the ride-hailing business to over 2 million riders and more than 300,000 registered drivers. This scale far outpaces the country’s 40,000 traditional taxis, reflecting the opportunity in an urban transport sector that McKinsey estimates at $9 to $12 billion.
